Azusa Police Arrest Man Found In Possession of Gun Stolen In Glendora

Two suspicious men led Azusa Police on a foot chase in their city late Saturday night, one of the men was eventually caught.

The man eventually found had been in possession of a loaded 9-millimeter hand gun that was determined to be reported stolen out of Glendora, Azusa Police said.

The man arrested, 23-year-old Anthony Zepeda from West Covina, had been released from jail just one week ago and was in a Post Release Community Supervision program. He is being held in the Azusa jail on a no-bail probation hold.

Zepeda and one other man fled Azusa Police around 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Donna Beth Avenue after officers saw the suspicious men and attempted to speak with them, Azusa Police said on their website.

The two men fled on foot in different directions. Zepeda ditched the gun on the roof of a residence during his escape, but th gun was recovered. Zepeda was eventually found. The second man has not been located, Azusa Police said.

The Glendora Police Department was not immediately able to provide information on the stolen handgun.

Zepeda was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
