Empty Bowls Returns To Help Local Pantries Fight Hunger

First Christian Church of Glendora will host the 12th Annual Empty Bowls event, which is scheduled for Friday, March 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Participants can purchase a ceramic bowl for $20, handmade by local crafters from the Citrus College Ceramics Department, Ceramic Services and Pioneer Potters. Those bowls can be filled with soup donated by Glendora restaurants.

The ceramic bowls will be available for purchase at First Christian Church, 300 N. Glendora Ave., where the soup will also be served. Participants will be given a raffle ticket to win a premier ceramic bowl donated by local potters, organizers said.

Proceeds benefit Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul and Empty Bowls Food Vouchers distributed by the Glendora Police Department to provide immediate hunger relief for those in need.

Empty Bowls is sponsored by Frisella’s Roastery, T. Phillip’s Alehouse and Grill, Ed’s Place, Village Kitchen Shoppe, Village Vault Restaurant, Sushi & I, Village Eatery, Domenico’s Jr., Lucca Bella Fine Foods, Glendora Continental, Chili’s, Sergio’s Mexican Restaurant and Classic Coffee. Top Billing Entertainment will provide music.
