The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has released the name of the man killed after being run over by a dump truck on Glendora Mountain Road Friday morning.

Eric Pedersen, 20, from Clayton, California, was longboarding with friends on Glendora Mountain Road in the area of East Fork Road March 20. Pedersen failed to remain in his lane while on a downhill portion in northbound lanes of GMR and rode into the path of an oncoming three-axle dump truck and was struck, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m.

Local media reported that Pedersen was accompanied by fellow longboarders in front and behind him, as well as friends trailing behind in a van. Pedersen was wearing safety gear.

Skateboarding is prohibited on forest roads, said Rodrigo Jimenez, public information officer for the California Highway Patrol.

The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, said Lt. David Smith of the Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.
