A 60-year-old Glendora resident died today after reportedly suffering a medical issue after she rear-ended a stopped big rig in Pomona.

The resident, whose identity was not revealed pending notification of next of kin, was driving her sedan near Pomona Boulevard west of Temple Avenue when she struck the stopped big rig in the parking lot just off the main thoroughfare, said Cpl. J.T. Garcia of Pomona Police in a written statement.

The accident occurred around 1:36 p.m.

Responding officers found the driver “in medical distress.” She was rushed to an area hospital where she passed away shortly thereafter, Garcia said.

It is not known if the driver suffered medical distress before the crash or as a result of it.

Pomona Police’s Major Accident Investigators and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner are investigating the crash.
