County To Begin Sediment Removal In Late June

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will begin emptying debris and dirt from the Dalton Sediment Placement Site to restore it to capacity, the city said.

Sediment removal will begin Monday, June 22 and take place five days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., generating 50 truck trips per hour. The work is scheduled to last four weeks while crews will transport the sediment from the Dalton SPS above Fountain Springs Lane to Manning Pit near Vincent Avenue and Arrow Highway in Irwindale.

County workers are authorized to work during the times above and have been instructed to not drive through residential streets before 7 a.m., the city said.

Dalton SPS contains a large volume of sediment generated by post-storm facility clean outs and street clearing from below the Colby Fire Impact Area.
