The Glendora Police Department released the number of people arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs over the 18-day DUI campaign across Los Angeles County.

Authorities involved in 47 DUI/driver license checkpoints, multi-agency strike teams and 84 roving DUI saturation patrols arrested 1,629 people countywide from August 21 to September 7.

The LA County Avoid DUI Task Force teamed up with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration for the high-visibility campaign this year in an effort to reduce drunk driving. Funding is provided with a grant from the California Highway Office of Traffic Safety, through the NHTSA.
