City Raises Alert Status Ahead of Sunday Rains

Airing on the side of caution, city officials have raised the Colby Fire Alert Status to yellow with moderate rain coming Sunday.

Officials announced via social media and through the Nixle alert platform that between one-quarter inch and a half-inch of rain is expected Sunday evening.

Officials do not expect the rain to cause issues and should be gone by Monday.

Yellow StatusA yellow status means:

  • No evacuation orders in effect.
  • Rain-related parking restrictions in effect.
  • Residents directed to remove vehicles, trash bins and other obstructions from streets and/or travel lanes as they will be subject to tow or removal by authorities.
  • No restricted entry to impact area/potentially impacted areas.

Rain is expected after 4 p.m., with a daytime high near 63 degrees and an 80 percent chance for showers. Glendora could see more rain into the night with a low of around 45, according to the National Weather Service.
