A Golden Celebration: Foothill Extension Cities To Celebrate March 5 Opening

Each of the five cities hosting a Gold Line Foothill Extension station will celebrate the opening of the new light rail line Saturday, March 5.

Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa will host celebrations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring live music, food trucks and free rides on the entire Metro Gold Line, which will last until midnight.

The Foothill Extension was completed in September of 2015, running 11.5 miles of light rail between Pasadena and Azusa and representing nearly $1 billion. The Foothill Extension was possible after voters passed a half-cent sales tax in 2008.
