Nathaniel Geurts, the 14-year-old on trial for the stabbing death of his 15-year-old sister, entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Geurts is accused of fatally stabbing sister Aspen Geurts multiple times at their Claremont home November 4, 2015, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Nathaniel was charged with one count of murder and is being tried as an adult.

Nathaniel was found not too far from their parents’ home in the 300 block of Andover Court and apprehended with the murder weapon, Claremont Police said.

Aspen and Nathaniel were students of Glendora High School at the time of the killing.

Nathaniel is next scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing May 5 in the Pomona Courthouse.
