Now that Glendorans can ride the Gold Line Foothill Extension, Duarte has taken the step to offer shuttle service to a popular hiking trail above their community.

Shuttle Service to and from Fish Canyon Falls hiking trail begins Saturday, April 9 and will originate from the Duarte/City of Hope Station. The shuttle will run every 30 minutes on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during April and May.

The shuttle will be free for all riders.

A shuttle van will transport riders and, depending on the frequency of usage, a transit bus may be implemented in the near future, Duarte officials said on the city’s website.

“After years of limited accessibility and maintenance, the Duarte Fish Canyon Falls Trail is now safer, wider and more accessible and hikers will be able to experience the 80-foot, three tiered waterfalls recently named the most beautiful falls in Southern California,” Duarte officials said on the city’s website.

Officials do warn hikers about the sometimes narrow, rocky terrain, which harbors loose rocks ticks and poison oak.

The Fish Canyon Trailhead is located at 3901 Fish Canyon Rd.
