In an email sent to customers, Sport Chalet announced the company will be closing all of its 51 stores after 57 years.

Online sales ceased Saturday morning. Closing sales will begin Monday, April 18 and continue for the next several weeks. However, a Glendora Sport Chalet employee told GCN that their store is offering 10 percent off all items starting April 16 and will increase in the coming weeks.

The email also stated that gift cards will be honored through April 29 and after that day, gift card balances can be transferred to one to sister stores, Eastern Mountain Sports or Bob’s Stores.

Earlier in April, many national news websites reported the parent company of Sport Chalet, Vestis Retail Group was filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy and that Sport Chalet and its sister stores would be part of the filing.
