Cory Ellenson Secures First In Assembly Race

Glendora Unified Board Member Cory Ellenson is celebrating a victory today after securing first place in a very close contest for the 48th Assembly District.

With all precincts reporting, Ellenson, the only Republican in the race, secured first with 26.91 percent of the vote. Right behind Ellenson was Blanca Rubio, a Baldwin Park Unified board member, with 25.12 percent.

Bryan Urias, a member of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, finished right behind Rubio with 23.13 percent.

Baldwin Park Mayor Manuel Lozano and Bassett Unified School District Board Member Armando Barrajas finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The first and second place finishers move on to the general election in November.

Ellenson will be celebrating his victory today at T. Phillips Alehouse and Grill, 180 N. Glendora Ave., where 10 percent of all sales will be donated to his campaign. Ellenson will also organize a VIP gathering at T. Phillips at 7 p.m.

The 48th Assembly District covers Glendora, Duarte, Azusa, Covina and other communities.
