One person was killed and another critically injured after a white 4-door sedan crashed into a tree Saturday night.

Investigators are continuing to examine the crash scene and have Grand Avenue south of Juanita Avenue closed, potentially for several more hours while officers piece together what led to the collision, said Sgt. Shelly Gold of Glendora Police.

The driver of the white sedan, for unknown reasons, struck a tree on Grand Avenue south of Juanita, Gold said. The direction of travel was not immediately known.

The collision occurred around 9:20 p.m.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department initially reported a collision between two vehicles, but Gold clarified that only one vehicle was involved.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 9:26 p.m., six minutes after being dispatched and worked to extract a critically injured occupant, while the second occupant was declared deceased, said a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Notifications to family members of the victims still need to be made, Gold said.
