Coroner’s officials on Monday named the driver who died after striking a tree while driving on Grand Avenue.

Teresa Perez, 30, from La Puente, died in the solo collision July 9 after the white 4-door sedan she was driving left the road, for unknown reasons, just south of Juanita Avenue and collided with a tree.

A cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy is scheduled for today, said Lt. Kelly Yagerlener of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. Saturday night.

A man accompanied Perez in the white sedan and was critically injured, needing to be extracted from the car, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Grand Avenue remained shut down during a lengthy investigation by Glendora Police. Grand Avenue reopened around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
