A group of science-minded students from Citrus College will demonstrate their skills in rocketry Feb. 21 with a presentation at the Glendora Public Library.
The Rocket Owls will showcase their latest work titled Project Ascension, how they design, construct, test rockets and will discuss their participation in the 2014-2015 NASA Student Launch Competition.
The program is scheduled to take place in the Bidwell Forum, 140 S. Glendora Ave., at 11 a.m.
The students’ current work, Project Ascension, is an eight-month commitment, building their rocket from the ground up covering multiple aspects of rocket design, financing and testing. The students launch their experiments on rockets and then analyze the data, which will be used for future NASA projects, organizers said.
The NASA Student Launch is a research-based competition organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and helps provide cost-effective research and development for student organized rocket build teams, from middle schools to universities.
The Citrus Rocket Owls will participate in the NASA Student Launch Competition from April 7 to April 11 in Huntsville, Alabama.
