With Valentine’s Day approaching on Sunday, GCN thought we would provide some info for local ideas.

Do: Spend time with her, even if you can’t get, or afford, an extravagant gift. After all it’s the thought that counts, maybe at least give a card and remind them how much you care. Guys, if you assume that girls should just know, you may be in for a long day in the doghouse. Even a well placed note that she finds at random can mean a lot.

Don’t: Go out with your friends instead or let the day go by without seeing her.

Do: If you can, buy flowers, even smaller arrangements can make statement and add a little warm spot in a lady’s heart. The local grocery stores have bouquets starting under $10 and local flower shops have inexpensive specials as well that can be more personalized and they can deliver more extravagant arrangements, or simple roses if you choose. Here are some local shops we support.

Glendora Florist – 234 N. Glendora Ave. Glendora, Ca. 91741    626-335-1943 (Mention this article and get 10% off)

Grand Florist – 525 W. Route 66, Glendora, Ca. 91740   626-335-1231

Don’t: Fall for FREE roses you won over the phone, it’s Ryan Seacrest setting you up on his radio show as a cheater on Ryan’s Roses.

Do: Try to set up a dinner at your loved one’s favorite restaurant. We understand it may not be in Glendora, but if you want to stay in town here are a few restaurants offering a special Valentine menu.

A well thought out, and home cooked meal, is a great idea if you want to stay home, grab a movie and relax.

Don’t: Choose that day to try the new Quesalupa from Taco Bell for dinner or think a delivered pizza is romantic. If you must get pizza, Round Table has a heart shaped pizza available, true story…

Don’t: Fall asleep before fulfilling the obligation of the massage you offered to do yourself. Again, you may be in the doghouse for that fail.

Do: Buy some edible treats to give your loved one at a local bakery.

Martha’s Candy – 133 1/2 N. Glendora Ave. Glendora, Ca. 91741   626-335-0310

Don’t: Buy candy if the lady is on a diet, you will be known as a saboteur, as I have been known before. Instead, try an edible fruit arrangement, flowers or a gift.

Do: Buy a gift if you are inclined. Many local retailers have Valentine themed shopping available and specials.

Don’t: Forget all together. As we said before, a simple act and a card can go a long way.

Do: Take a ride service such as Uber or Lyft if you are planning on drinking.

Don’t: Drink and Drive!

Happy Valentine’s Day Glendora!!!

P.S. For those staying home and enjoying a night in, the mid-season premier of “Walking Dead” is on, because nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day like zombies.
