New Name, Same Mission: Charter Oak Partners In Education Gets New Moniker

The organization at the forefront of helping to provide for the educational needs of Charter Oak Unified School District students has a new name and look.

Formerly known as Charter Oak Partners in Education, COPE is now known as the Charter Oak Education Foundation. The change came about after organizers called upon Charter Oak High School Business Academy students to invent a new name and log, said Jane Bock, Charter Oak Unified board member and Charter Oak Education Foundation board member.

In September of 2014, the Business Academy students created the new name and look with the help of teachers Camille Strycula and Tom Parslow. The students, after conferring with the organization’s board of directors, decided to “tell it like it is” and chose the new name after being told that it is their education foundation, Bock said.

“The Charter Oak Education Foundation will continue the great work of the last six years as we go forward with our new name and creative logo. We will continue to partner with the Charter Oak Unified School District to provide for the educational needs of our students,” Bock said in a written statement.
