Los Angeles County fire fighters have just transported an injured motorcycle rider who hit the pavement on the westbound Interstate 210 freeway at Sunflower Avenue.
The extent of injuries is unclear, but the rider possibly struck the second vehicle in the HOV lane. The rider was down in lanes of traffic and was being assisted by a citizen who stopped to help the rider until fire fighters arrived.
The accident was reported around 6:34 a.m.
The HOV, No. 1 and 2 lanes were blocked while the California Highway Patrol and fire fighters worked at the scene, according to CHP traffic logs.
Fire fighters packaged transported the rider by ground to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital where a helicopter then took the rider to an area trauma center for treatment.
The westbound lanes of the freeway were cleared by about 7:06 a.m.
The helicopter lifted off by 7:13 a.m.
