28 students were celebrated at Whitcomb High School’s quarterly Honor Roll Awards Breakfast last Thursday for earning a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Whitcomb is a California Model Continuation High School in Glendora Unified School District. With the support of city council, GUSD district leadership, and representatives of the Senate and Assembly, Principal Ron Letourneau publically recognized the students for their grit and determination. “It is very rewarding to have so many students come to us with academic struggles and find a home here at Whitcomb. They get to work in the classroom, achieve some success, and before you know it…the sky is the limit,” said Letourneau.
“Some will choose to get back to Glendora High School, and some will choose to stay here at Whitcomb to graduate. Our job is to support them in their decisions and help them reach their goals”, Letourneau added.
Assistant Superintendent Michelle Hunter added, “We are so proud of these students. It’s always exciting for kids to discover their potential and strive to find a path that is right for them at the school that is right for them.” Juniors Mae Cuch and Molly Sanchez-Martinez, along with sophomores Marc Flores and Jeremy Mills were additionally recognized for a 4.0 GPA for the 3rd quarter.
