As substantial work on the Gold Line Foothill Extension is slowly winding down as the scheduled completion date approaches, the construction authority announced the dedication date for the stations along the route.
The Azusa Downtown and APU/Citrus College station dedications are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. Both stations will be dedicated during one event at 780 N. Azusa Ave. in Azusa, near the Azusa Downtown Station.
Metro officials recently announced official passenger service to begin in spring of 2016. Vehicles to operate on the Foothill Extension are still being delivered. The first Japanese-built vehicle was delivered to the Monrovia operations facility earlier in July, said Habib Balian, Construction Authority CEO in a written statement.
In all, 74 vehicles will operate on the Foothill Extension.
Work remains on the six light rail stations, 24-acre operations facility in Monrovia, communication and overhead catenary system.
