Glendora Police were called this afternoon to a report of a transient trying to gain access to a property. Police responded to an area near Route 66 and Manor Lane shortly before 3 p.m. Once they arrived, they came in contact with a man who appeared to have a handgun. The suspect then attempted to flee from police but was found in a nearby yard and arrested.
The weapon, which the transient had on him initially, turned out to be a pellet gun.
According to Sgt. Marty Barrett of the Glendora Police Department, the suspect got rid of the weapon during the short pursuit.
“He dumped the weapon as he was running,” Barrett said.
Arrested was Andrew Garcia, 24, from Glendora, on suspicion of altering an imitation firearm and obstructing an officer. Garcia is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
