City To Approve Upgrades For Finkbiner, Glendora Public Library

The Glendora City Council is expected to approve Tuesday a construction contract, building plans and funding for restroom upgrades at Finkbiner Park and the Glendora Public Library.

The upgrades will bring Finkbiner’s restrooms up to code with the American’s with Disabilities Act requirements by removing existing non-compliant stall partitions, water closets, lavatories and entry ways at both facilities. The library restrooms are expected to undergo a restoration, according to city staff.

Additionally, the project will seek to demolish existing walls, tile and plumbing.

Courts Construction Company, based in Glendora, was the lowest bidding firm, submitting a price of $150,980. The project will utilize funding from the Community Development Block Grant instead of from Capital Improvement Funds, city staff said.

Staff is also requesting a 15 percent contingency from the city’s Capital Projects Fund reserves to bring the total cost of the project to $173,627.

This item will be discussed in further detail at the City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 116 E. Foothill Blvd.
