More than 20 teams competed in the Great Trivia Challenge 23 at Azusa Pacific University Mach 21. Close to 500 attendees came out to make the event a success.
The event, which raises money for the Glendora Public Library Friends Foundation, narrowed down the teams fairly quickly with a mix of questions from 12 different categories. Ultimately, the team sponsored by ERA Yes Real Estate prevailed and took home the title for the second consecutive year.
The ERA Yes team consisted of Hemang Mehta, Mark Sims and Bill Ruh, with Mahta being the only returning member from last year’s winning team. No team had ever won back to back titles since the Great Trivia Challenge began in 1992.
Coming in second place was the team sponsored by RG Business Insurance Agency that included Jennifer Waters, George Waters and Jeffery Sherwood.
This event has been a hit since it began and continues to grow each year.
“Funds raised at this event are vital for all sorts of Glendora Public Library opportunities –programs out in the community and at the Library, books and online resources, and Adult Literacy”, Janet Stone, Glendora Library Director, said in a written statement.
Past Citizen of the Year Thom Hill once again returned to host the event. Restaurants such as Mike’s Pizza, Don Reye’s, Lone Hill Café, Sergio’s, Maria’s, Peppertree Café, Spaghetti Eddie’s and countless others donated the food to cater the evening.
