Glendora High School Varsity softball clinched the Palomares League with a victory Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Tartans were assured at least a shared spot as league champs with South Hills High School, but Glendora’s 5-1 win gave them sole possession of the title, said GHS Athletic Director Rod Tilton.

Glendora’s bats were hot in the first inning with a single from senior outfielder Kayla Sok. A stolen base and an error by Diamond Bar put the runner at third. A solid hit from Randi Farricker sent Sok home to put a run on the board.

The Lady Tartans put on a high scoring affair in the 3rd inning with solid hitting and base running to bring in three runs to increase Glendora’s lead to 4-0.

Diamond Bar finally got on the board with a triple by freshman Elizabeth Wilson in the 4th. The Lady Tartans would get that run right back with a hit to center field to score infielder Hailey Mollno.

Wallingford got the win for the Lady Tartans.

Several seniors were also honored before the game, including outfielder Kayla Sok, outfielder Morgan Cutler, pitcher Kaylee Wallingford, infielder Hailey Mollno and outfielder Cheyenne Armijo.
