Six international breakaway riders led the peloton during Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California on Saturday.
Those six riders had a comfortable 2:40 lead as they sped east along Sierra Madre Boulevard from their southbound descent on San Gabriel Canyon Road and towards Glendora.
Other cyclists and area residents stationed themselves along the route at the intersection of Sierra Madre Avenue and Glendora Mountain Road.

As the cyclists could be seen far off in the distance on Sierra Madre, the crowd’s cheering became more raucous.
The six leading cyclists arrived at Sierra Madre Avenue and Glendora Mountain Road just before 2 p.m. less than five minutes later, the peloton arrived and snaked around onto GMR for their ascent back to Mt. Baldy Village.
