The Glendora Public Library’s Bidwell Forum will host a public workshop to take in public comments on the drafting of a Management Plan that will govern the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
The public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The meeting is also a chance for community members to speak directly with Forest Service staff about the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
Teams of planners have been drafting the Management Plan, which will serve as an amendment to an existing management plan document serving the land specified under the Angeles National Forest.
Officials anticipate the inclusion of an environmental assessment, which is expected to find no significant impact to the environment, Forest Service officials said.
The more than 346,000 square miles of federal land, just north of Glendora and stretching from San Bernardino to Newhall, was designated as a National Monument by Presidential Proclamation October 10, 2014.
National Monument status is given to protected areas of federal land covering a wide range of landscapes. The San Gabriel Mountains National Monument is the eighth to be designated under Forest Service Management.
The Bidwell Forum is located on the second floor of the Glendora Public Library, 140 S. Glendora Ave.
