Residents will hear about the future of the Gold Line in Glendora Tuesday night at the City Council meeting when the Chief Executive Officer of the Construction Authority is expected to speak.
Habib Balian will deliver the update to the City Council on progress for Phase 2B of the Foothill Extension, which would run from Azusa to Montclair.
The 12.3-mile Phase 2B segment will host stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair.
The Azusa to Montclair segment will cost $1 billion to construct. No funding is available for this segment, Construction Authority officials said.
In February, the Construction Authority asked for a transfer of $33 million in sales-tax funds in order to help start the bidding process for construction. A proposed sales tax measure which would provide funding could be put on the November 2016 ballot, Construction Authority Officials said.
If the proposed sales tax is approved, Phase 2B could break ground in 2017.
Advanced conceptual engineering began in 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
Planning for Phase 2B was started back in 2003 with the majority of work having been completed, including an Environmental Impact Report and an addendum to the EIR which would allow for phased construction to take place.
