The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified a man who died after he burned himself while allegedly attempting to make a methamphetamine-like substance under a bridge.

Duane Holland, 35, died November 20, after accidentally igniting himself under the bridge between Landau Boulevard and Crossley Road. Holland was transported by medics to an area burn center, but he died soon after, Palm Springs Police said in a written statement.

Police responded to a call at 3:03 p.m. of a man found burning under a bridge Nov. 20. After Holland was transported, Riverside County Hazardous Materials personnel worked to determine the type of liquids found at the scene, police said.

The cause of death is still pending, a supervising deputy coroner with the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office told GCN.

It is not known how long Holland was a resident of Glendora.
