A man was arrested February 20 inside 24-Hour Fitness trying to blend in with the crowd after fleeing a nearby store he just robbed.
The suspect fled Kohl’s, 1225 S. Lone Hill Ave., after getting into a shoving match with security, who tried to detain him after he allegedly used bolt cutters to steal a Garmin Navigation System, said Sgt. Mike Henderson of Glendora Police.
Police were dispatched to the call at 12:11 p.m. Saturday.
The suspect fled west from Kohl’s and towards the 24-Hour Fitness, 1357 W. Gladstone St. Police arrived and searched for the alleged robber, Henderson said.
A 24-Hour Fitness employee told officers the suspect may have been hiding inside the gym. Officers entered and located a man working out while wearing jeans on the second floor. Police detained him and eventually found the stolen merchandise and some of his clothing inside a locker, Henderson said.
Arrested was David Prather, 28, from Diamond Bar. Prather was booked on suspicion of robbery and possession of burglary tools.
Prather was released on $50,000 bond February 21. He is scheduled to appear in the West Covina Courthouse February 23, according to county booking records.
