LA Metro is offering free shuttle service near the site of a big rig crash that is blocking the Gold Line Foothill Extension tracks Sunday.

Train service between the Allen and Arcadia Stations is being replaced by shuttles. Gold Line Service between Union Station and Allen Station and between Arcadia Station and the Citrus College/APU Station are still running every 15 minutes, Metro said.

The collision occurred on the Westbound 210 freeway in Pasadena just west of Madre Street before 3 a.m. The semi reportedly exploded, sending a tire flying into eastbound lanes  and broke through the divider, landing on the Gold Line Tracks, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fire burned so hot that the semi will need to cool off until about noon so the semi can be lifted off the tracks, the CHP said.

The driver of the big rig was transported to Huntington Memorial with minor injuries.

The HOV and No. 1 and 2 lanes of the westbound side are still blocked.

After the debris is removed, Metro will determine what, if any, repairs may need to be made.
