A pursuit ended with a crash in Covina Friday night after police attempted to pull the driver of a stolen car over.

The driver led officers on a pursuit through surface streets from Glendora into Covina where the suspect crashed into the side yard of a home, causing damage to a chain link fence and some damage to the stolen car, police said.

Police initiated a traffic stop at Sunflower Avenue and Arrow Highway around 9:23 p.m. The driver fled. He ran some red lights during the chase and possibly traveled as fast as 75 miles per hour, said Lt. Matt Egan of Glendora Police.

The pursuit lasted about three minutes, Egan said.

The suspect drove into a Covina neighborhood in the 200 block of West Groverdale Street where the road dead ends.

The suspect crashed into a side yard and gate. The suspect surrendered without incident, Egan said.

It was not immediately known where the car was reported stolen from.

Arrested was Jacob Degloyer, 21. He was booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, felony reckless evading and violating the terms of his parole. Degloyer is being held without bail.

Degloyer has had a previous run-in with Glendora officers.

On March 23, Degloyer led police on a high speed pursuit from Glendora, and into La Puente where he and a possible companion fled the pursuit vehicle. Degloyer was eventually found and arrested.

Degloyer is scheduled to appear in the West Covina Courthouse May 10.
