Help Charter Oak schools, be fit and have fun with the community during the 3rd Annual Oak Tree Challenge 5K and one-mile run/walk event.
The Oak Tree Challenge is scheduled for Sunday, September 18. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The 5K run and walk starts at 8 a.m., with the one-mile run/walk following at 9 a.m.
Attendees will also be treated to a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., free for all runners and walkers. All others can have breakfast for $5.
Registration fees benefit the Charter Oak Unified School District. In 2015, participants and partners raised $12,000 for Charter Oak schools, said Kristi Ambriz, director with the Charter Oak Education Foundation.
Medals will be given to all youth runners and walkers in the one-mile event. Firs, second and third place participants in the 5K event will receive medals and the overall first place runner will receive a medal.
Individual 5K registration is $25 and $15 for the one-mile event. Groups can enjoy a discount price for each participant. Group members will only pay $20 for the 5K event, while one-mile participants will only pay $10.
Registration forms must be received by September 7 to guarantee a race shirt. Registrants who submit forms after September 7 will pay a higher price and may not be guaranteed a shirt.
