Glendora Dance Off For Young Girl With Leukemia

Dance Street West in Glendora will be doing a Dance Off this Saturday to raise money for 16 year-old Jeweliett Mejia.

Jeweliett, who is a dancer and performer at Dance Street West, was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia.

Jeweliett has been a dance at the Glendora studio since she was 8 years-old and loves dancing.

Shannon Lancaster, the owner of Dance Street West, initially got the horrible news of Jeweliett’s diagnosis shortly after Thanksgiving and was trying to think of a way to help in some way. The idea of a fundraiser while having a dance off finally came to her, rather than a simple GoFundMe page.

“I know how expensive these illnesses can be and how it can be devastating to a family. I also know that Jeweliett loves dancing so much and would enjoy this”, Lancaster told GCN.

Lancaster went on to talk about how important dancing is to the 16 year-old and how she can’t wait to regain the strength to dance again.

Jeweliett is currently undergoing treatment at City of Hope and her prognosis for the time being, is optimistic.

100% of donations will go directly to her family to help with her treatment and care. The entry fee and suggested donations are only $20.
