An accident involving a vehicle versus bicyclist occurred just before 3pm Tuesday afternoon. The boy’s sister was also nearby and the parents have already been contacted by the Glendora Police Department.
The teenage boy, age not confirmed, was riding southbound on the sidewalk along Glenwood Ave, just south of Foothill Blvd, according to a witness at the scene.
For unknown reasons, he proceeded to ride into the street near Sycamore Ave, just in front of the parking lot of Grace Lutheran Preschool. A car driving northbound on Glenwood Ave struck the teenager somewhere near the middle of the street. It was not immediately clear if the car was driving in the middle of if the driver had possibly swerved to avoid the accident.
The victim was hit and flew up to the vehicles windshield, leaving it smashed from the impact. The bike ended up directly in front of the vehicle, lying bent up on the ground.
While on scene, GCN did observe the boy talking with LA County Paramedics and firefighters on scene. One witness told us that he was aware of what happened and knew his name when asked.
Most of the visual trauma appeared to be with his legs but paramedics did transport him after applying a neck brace and body board, presumably for precautionary purposes. GCN would like to pass along our well wishes for all of those involved and pray for a speedy recovery for the victim.
