On March 1, 2019, Visiting Angels Glendora, officially changes ownership after 18 years. Located in the heart of Glendora, near the downtown village, Visiting Angels has served the families of the surrounding communities faithfully and compassionately and that legacy will continue to be a focus.
The new local owners Andrew and Melinda Dilwicius are excited to have this opportunity and feel honored that Lindsey Rehfeld has entrusted the future of Visiting Angels Glendora to them. The Dilwicius’ both grew up in Glendora, attending Cullen and Williams Elementary, Goddard Middle School, and Glendora High School. Melinda serves as the President of the board for the Glendora Education Foundation and is an active Rotary member. Andrew, who will manage the day to day business recently retired from CarMax where he served in multiple positions over his 20 year career with the Fortune 500 company, most recently as the Location General Manager of their Riverside store.
“I want to invest in the lives of those who have given so much to us by answering the call to keep people home during the most vulnerable seasons of their life,” said Andrew. “In doing this, we get to create atmospheres of love, safety and security for the whole family. I believe people deserve that.”
Visiting Angels provides non-medical, in-home care for elderly and disabled people in their homes, ranging from meal preparation and housekeeping to errands and appointments. The Glendora franchised office serves the foothill communities from Monrovia to La Verne.
Asked why he chose to pursue this career path, Andrew said, “My mother passed away when I was seven months old and my father became wheelchair bound when I was only three. My Grandmother who was already in her late sixties moved out to California from Pennsylvania, giving up her job, friends and family to raise my sister and I and take care of my father. As she grew older, the roles became reversed and I helped to care for her, but not everyone has that option. When the opportunity presented itself, I thought here is a chance to work locally at a career that directly supports the people who have built this community.”
Andrew also serves as the Co-Chair for the Glendora Friends of Rotary as well as a Board Member for Citrus Valley Health Foundation. After a brief relocation to La Verne, the couple have been re-rooted in Glendora since 2005 and are committed community members.
