September’s Glendora Coordinating Council Humanitarian Awards

Matt Bartlett, Glendora Community Coordinating Council Acting President with September’s Youth Recognition Award recipient JJ Gonzalez.

JJ Gonzalez is a senior at Glendora High School.  He has been a library volunteer for over seven years and has donated over 150 hours of service.  The library staff has come to rely on JJ for not only his dependability, but even more for his ability to assist young library volunteers, all the while having a great attitude.  He is a great volunteer mentor, taking the time to explain to the younger volunteers how things are done and work side by side with them as they complete their tasks.  JJ even filmed a training video this summer that was used during the Summer Reading Challenge to demonstrate the best ways for volunteers to interact with our young readers.  He is always willing to take on whatever tasks are needed and help out wherever possible.  In addition, JJ in Glendora High School’s marching band as a drummer in the Pipe and Drum Corps and is active in his church.  The Glendora Community Coordinating Council is pleased to recognize JJ with September’s Youth Recognition Award.

Janet Stone has been a very active and dedicated member of the Glendora Rotary Club.  She has been instrumental in developing educational programs for Rotary and coordinating joint projects between Rotary and the Glendora Public Library.  She has been involved in the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy for high school students and Teen Leadership Academy for Middle School Students.  Also, through Rotary Janet has for years been instrumental in the High School Interact Club. She has been a part of the Glendora Community Coordinating Council for ten years and has held the position of First Vice President of Program for the last seven years. Her interaction with the Library Friends Foundation is well known and even though it may be considered part of her job responsibilities, her ability to work with a non-profit foundation goes above and beyond her normal duties.  Glendora Community Coordinating Council is very honored to recognize Janet Stone with September’s Humanitarian Award.
