The Cabin Fire, which burned 1,723 acres and destroyed four structures last week, has been reduced to a smoldering nuisance deep in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
The fire is 98 percent contained and will likely remain that way for the foreseeable future due to the steep, rugged terrain making it difficult for firefighters to establish containment lines, said U.S. Forest Service representative Andrew Mitchell.
Approximately 280 fire fighters continue to identify hotspots and mop up the destruction left in its wake. Officials reported 11 firefighters received minor injuries over the course of the blaze.
Highway 39 has been reopened only up to one mile north of West Fork Road for possibly another seven to 10 days. Coldbrook Campground and the Crystal Lake Campground remain in accessible, said Lt. Andy Berg of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station.

Glendora Mountain Road has reopened. Glendora Ridge Rod remains closed until further notice, the USFS said via Twitter.
