The cross at the top of the Garcia Trail, which has withstood mother nature’s best the last few years, has fallen.
A couple of people who have been up there in the last few days have different theories on what happened. Some say vandalism and others say it appears the wood rotted out and the cross gave way.
The cross, which sits on privately owned land is not supposed to be accessible to the public at this time, since the Garcia Trail was shut down after the Colby Fire in 2014.
That being said, it appears that nothing will stop the residents in the communities of Glendora and Azusa below, from putting together groups to go restore the cross.
Although remaining anonymous, there is already word of different groups planning to bring materials up to restore the cross.
