With 5 to 6 inches of rain expected between tonight and Monday, city officials have moved to Yellow Alert.
While no significant problems are anticipated, the alert level was raised for the Colby Fire Impact Area simply as a precaution due to the amount of rain heading our way, on top of what we have already recently received.
According to a post by the Glendora Police Department, the last 30 days has brought around 7-8 inches to the north area of Glendora based on the rain gauges in place.
The impending storm, beginning tonight, could bring another 4-6 inches of rain through Monday.
It is important to note that there have been no issues with the latest rainfalls affecting our hillsides. In fact, the amount of mud or debris as seen in previous year’s runoff into our streets and debris basins has not occurred. Our hillsides have held up very well, now three years post Colby Fire.
If this storm does bring 4-6 inches, the total 30 day rainfall totaling 11-14 inches will be a good test for our hillsides moving forward and what they can handle.
According to the website, WeatherDB, Glendora’s average yearly rainfall is only 22.6 inches for the last 30 years.
