Glendora City Staff and officials will conduct a special meeting today to interview candidates and incumbents who applied for positions on various city commissions, committees and boards.
City Council members will interview the 20 candidates to fill positions on the Investment Advisory Committee, Business Improvement District Advisory Board and Planning Commission that expired June 30 and to also appoint positions on the Arrow Highway Corridor Specific Plan Steering Committee.
The special meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
The City Council will likely forego with formal balloting and appoint incumbent Dalel Snider and Stephanie Simpson to fill full-term vacancies on the Business Improvement District Advisory Board due to a lack of applicants. The two open positions need to be filled in order for the Board to conduct business, City Staff said.
Formal balloting will be used for remaining boards, committees and commissions.
Incumbents Eric Duyshart and Andrew Jared from the Planning Commission are running for re-appointment.
The Arrow Highway Specific Plan Steering Committee was approved by the City Council March 24. Just over one month later, invitations were sent to residents and business leaders within 500 feet of Arrow Highway. Council members are given flexibility and may approve less or more of the applicants based on the needs of the Committee.
The applicants will be appointed/re-appointed at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 116 E. Foothill Blvd.
