Firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies are handling a residential gas line ruptured by construction workers near the San Dimas/Glendora border.

The gas line ruptured in the 500 block of Balton Avenue, which is a few blocks south of the Glendora Marketplace, around 7:43 a.m.

No evacuations are taking place and firefighters report the gas is dissipating. Deputies are going to homes within 500 to 1,000 feet of the gas line, asking residents to stay inside while it is being fixed, said Lt. Andy Berg of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station.

The gas line could be fixed within the next 30 minutes, Berg said.
