The man identified in connection with the 1976 murder of a Glendora woman is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in August.
Larry James Allred, 62, was charged with one count of first degree murder, willful, deliberate and premeditated or felony murder against Cynthia May Hernandez.
Allred first appeared in court May 13 for an arraignment, said Chris Lee, public affairs officer for the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.
Allred was formally charged by San Bernardino County authorities April 1 as a suspect in the disappearance and murder of Hernandez.
Glendora authorities reopened the case in 2011 and worked on new family interviews and chased new leads. About two years later, Glendora detectives were led to San Bernardino County where the murder allegedly occurred.
