In the midst of a large shuffling of businesses, one has decided to close its doors for good.
Big Dan’s Donuts, in the shopping center at Grand Ave and Foothill Blvd, permanently closed on January 5, 2017.
As reported before, multiple businesses in the shopping center are relocating within the center to accommodate a drive-thru Starbucks and the expanding of Maria’s Mexican Restaurant.
A source tells us that the owner opted not to move locations and instead took a buyout and allowed the center to buy him out of the lease. The current owner had bought the shop a few years back.
A letter on the now empty donut shop simply thanks customers while announcing the closure from Big Dan’s Donuts and Staff.
“On behalf of Big Dan’s Donuts, we appreciate your business over the last few years. We are sorry to inform you that Big Dan’s Donuts will be closing on January 5, 2017. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have cause. Thank you all for being loyal customers”, the letter reads.
Starbucks will do a large scale renovation of the pad building along Foothill Blvd where the donut shop was located with the UPS Store. The UPS Store has now moved to the other side of the center.
The last phase of the plan, once Starbucks moves to the stand alone pad and drive-thru, will involve Maria’s Mexican Restaurant expanding into the corner unit, which Starbucks currently occupies.
