Vote YES On Glendora’s Measure Z

Please join us by voting Yes on Measure Z – to ensure local funding remains in Glendora.

As Glendora residents, we are privileged to live in a city that is a wonderful place to live, work and play. However, we face significant challenges in addressing infrastructure, homelessness, and public safety concerns that this measure can fund. While the City generates millions of dollars in revenue on behalf of the State of California and County of Los Angeles, too few dollars find their way back to Glendora. To maintain our high quality of life, the City of Glendora requires local control of existing funding sources that the passage of Measure Z will provide.

To ensure that the revenues generated in Glendora benefit the local community, the City Council voted to place a local 0.25% sales tax measure on the ballot. This local measure is intended to capture the 0.25% available once the County’s Measure H sales tax ends in September 2027 or when it is repealed and replaced by Measure A.

Taking local control of this tax back from the County of Los Angeles will help protect and improve City initiatives and programs, including public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and community quality of life measures.

How is the current sales tax rate broken down?

6%          State of California
2.50%   County of Los Angeles
1.75%   City of Glendora
10.25% Total Sales Tax Rate

State Law caps the sales tax at 10.25%, which is the current rate in Glendora.

However, legislation can be enacted to allow revision to the Revenue and Taxation Code, as was the case for Measure A. AB 1679, passed by the California Legislature on October 23, 2023, allows the County of Los Angles to exceed the existing local transactions and use tax.

The proposed measure’s “argument in favor” was submitted to Los Angeles County.  Signatories of the argument in favor include the Glendora City Council; Gary Clifford, President of the Board of Education for the GUSD, a past Mayor, and the 2023 Citizen of the Year; Dr. Cliff Hamlow, a past Mayor and the 2024 Citizen of the Year; and Joe Cina, the President and CEO of the Glendora Chamber of Commerce.

No opposition to the measure was submitted.
