Three Glendora Police Officers were promoted in a ceremony Thursday evening. The promotions were a result of the retiring of Lieutenant Scott Strong, after 31 years in law enforcement.
According to a GPD Facebook post, in 1986 Strong entered his law enforcement career in the La Mirada School District Police Department. He was hired as a Glendora Police Officer in 1988. He has worked various special assignments which included serving as a Field Training Officer, Narcotics Detective, and Detective Bureau Sergeant. He was also an original member of the Glendora Special Enforcement Team, serving as an Operator.

In his career, Strong has received numerous awards and accolades. He is a three time recipient of the Department’s Lifesaving Award. He received the Chief’s Commendation Award in 2014 and was selected as the 2017 Officer of the Year, according to the GPD Facebook page.
Lieutenant Strong has always worked with GCN to get us information for the public in a timely manner, often going out of his way to help with breaking news. We wish him the best and thank him for being such a great partner not only for the police department, but for the community as a whole.
His retirement has opened the door for a series of promotions starting with the Sergeant rank to Lieutenant, below is a press release from the Glendora Police Department regarding those promotions.

Glendora Police Department Announces Promotions
Glendora, CA – The Glendora Police Department is pleased to announce the below promotions which take effect Monday, July 3, 2017:
Chris Stabio will be promoted to Lieutenant:
· Lt. Stabio was hired as a Cadet with the Glendora Police Department in 1996. He was later hired as a Glendora Police Officer in 1999. Lt. Stabio has been a Detective, Field Training Officer, Assistant Range Master, and a founding member of the Foothills Special Enforcement Team. He promoted to Sergeant in 2014. Lt. Stabio also has a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science from Cal–Poly Pomona.
Jason Tibbetts will be promoted to Sergeant:
· Sgt. Tibbetts was hired as a Cadet with the Glendora Police Department in 1991. He graduated from Citrus College and was later hired as a Dispatcher and Jailer. In 1997, Sgt. Tibbetts was hired as a Police Officer where he was assigned as a Field Training Officer, Assistant Range Master, a School Resource Officer, and a Crisis Negotiator with the Foothills Special Enforcement Team.
Zach Houser will be promoted to Corporal:
· Cpl. Houser was hired as a Cadet with the Glendora Police Department in 2003. He was later hired as a Glendora Police Officer in 2006. Cpl. Houser has been a Detective, Tactical Flight Officer, Explorer Advisor, Graffiti Abatement Team member, and Field Training Officer. Cpl. Houser also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from
Cal–State Fullerton.
