A man and a juvenile male were arrested Monday night after fleeing from the Kohl’s department store the two allegedly stole from.
The suspects fled from Kohl’s after allegedly taking a pair of pants and ran from the store through the parking lot, through the Glendora Dodge dealership and to nearby Lone Hill where officers arrested them, said Sgt. Mike Henderson of Glendora Police.
Officers responded to the theft at 8:08 p.m. The adult suspect, 19-year-old Jesus Jimenez, was walking on Lone Hill Avenue outside the Dodge dealership and was detained by officers. The male juvenile suspect was apprehended on the northeast corner of Lone Hill Avenue and Petunia Street.
The merchandise was recovered.
Jimenez was booked on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was also booked on suspicion of shoplifting under Penal Code 459.5, which is a new misdemeanor, Henderson said.
Resulting from the passage of Prop 47, the law makes certain commercial burglaries into misdemeanors if the suspect had the intent to commit theft, and stole the merchandise valued at under $950 during business hours.
Jimenez was issued a citation and released.
