6-Year-Old Survivor Starts CHLA Book Drive

Khloe, 6, from Glendora has started a book drive to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Khloe, who some Glendora City News readers may remember, has battled cancer herself. A month ago we did a fundraiser for her and raised funds for her trampoline that she had wished for. We are waiting on her doctor to give final approval and that wish is still a secret to Khloe, so she is paying it forward and doesn’t even realize it yet…

Below is information taken from the flyer that Khloe and her Cullen Elementary class is distributing. Glendora City News is proud to help sponsor this book drive and ask the community to join us as well.

“Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Literacy Healing program is in need of new books for children of all ages. This project was started by The Stay Fearless Khloe team and our current goal is 500 books by April 21st! This project is supported by Room 3 Kindergartners at Cullen Elementary in honor of Khloe (who is currently in her 3rd battle with Retinoblastoma) and all the heroes over at CHLA.

Room 3 teacher Mrs. Summers will discuss with the kinders their own successes in reading and how that comes from exposure to books during this project.

“We hope to instill the joy of helping others in our own children!” -Summers

Khloe is supported and deeply cared for by Mrs. Summers (a breast cancer survivor), her classmates, and room parents.

We would absolutely love to have our communities support and involvement in this project to help us achieve our goal of 500 books!”
