Glendora Police on Tuesday arrested the man accused of leading them on a brief pursuit and search after fleeing his SUV the night before.

Arrested was 25-year-old Anthony Smith. He was booked on suspicion of felony reckless evading and for making a false report of a crime, according to Glendora Police booking records.

Smith is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles.

Smith was arrested at 1:10 p.m. in the 900 block of West Bonita Avenue Tuesday.

“He was located … and arrested. The investigation is ongoing,” said Cpl. Jason Tibbetts of the Glendora Police Department, adding that he was unable to comment further on how Smith was found.

Smith allegedly led officers on a brief pursuit Monday night from Lone Hill Avenue and the westbound Interstate 210 freeway. Smith is accused of stealing merchandise from Walmart, 1950 E. Auto Centre Dr.

Smith sped along the freeway, exited at Sunflower Avenue and fled on foot at Essex Street and Sunflower. Police ended their search after being unable to find Smith.

It was still unclear if Smith was found to be in possession of any stolen merchandise.

Smith’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, at the West Covina Courthouse.
