Police are still investigating a multi-vehicle collision on Route 66 Wednesday.

Several occupants in the three vehicles involved were transported to area hospitals, with one occupant being transported to County/USC Medical Center for a head injury, said Sgt. Chris Stabio of Glendora Police.

Police were dispatched to the crash at 9:46 a.m.

For reasons unknown, a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Route 66 near Compromise Line Road struck the railroad bridge abutment and crossed the center median. A westbound SUV overturned when the driver swerved to avoid the pickup truck, Stabio said.

The pickup struck another westbound vehicle.

Both directions of Route 66 were shut down while police investigated the collision.

Officers are trying to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, Stabio said.
