Colby Fire Suspect Arrested In Glendora For Violating Probation

Steven Aguirre, one of three men convicted of igniting the Colby Fire, was arrested by Glendora Police Sunday morning after he left his registered halfway house recently and stopped checking in with his federal probation officer, police said.

A no bail warrant was issued for his arrest. Aguirre, 22, was found sleeping behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2121 E. Route 66, after 6 a.m.

It was not immediately known when Aguirre left his halfway house. A flyer with his mugshot and information was distributed to Glendora officers, who then conducted a search of areas where Aguirre was known to frequent.

“Officers checked some areas where transients hang out. They contacted him previously there, so they checked areas where they are familiar with him being and found him,” said Lt. Matt Williams of Glendora Police.

Aguirre was transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Monday morning.
